Original information om kunstværket fra museet (© - af The Metropolitan Museum of Art - www.metmuseum.org)

This small oil painting depicts an interaction between the artist Tintoretto and the literary critic and satirist Pietro Aretino, two cultural figures of sixteenth century Venice. The episode, real or apocryphal, was originally documented by Carlo Ridolfi in his Life of Tintoretto (1642). Ingres portrays the moment when Tintoretto feigns violence towards Aretino, whom he had invited to his studio to sit for a portrait. Aretino, shown in the pose of the martyr St. Francis receiving the stigmata, momentarily fears danger before recognizing the gesture as Tintoretto’s playful revenge for Aretino’s criticism of his work.Painted in 1848 for Marcotte Genlis, this picture is Ingres’s second version of the subject, the original dating to 1815. Ingres frequently copied his own paintings in an effort to improve upon his representations of often unconventional narratives.

Your own version of the artwork will be made with state-of-the-art UV print machines. Our real glass coating protects your selected art replica against light and external influences for many years.
  • Plakattryk på lærredsmateriale: The poster print is a UV printed sheet of canvas paper with a slightly roughened structure on the surface. A print poster is excellently suited for framing your art copy in a special frame. Please note, that depending on the absolute size of the poster we add a white margin 2-6 cm round about the print in order to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
  • Lærred: The canvas print, which should not be mistaken with a painting on a canvas, is an image printed on an industrial printer. Also, a printed canvas creates a nice and comfortable atmosphere. How do I hang a canvas print on my wall? Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, which implies that it is easy to hang the Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. A canvas print is suited for all types of walls.
  • Aluminium dibond print (metal): These are metal prints on aluminium dibond with an outstanding depth. The Direct Print on Aluminum Dibond is the ideal introduction to fine art replicas on alu. This direct UV print on Aluminum Dibond is one of the most demanded entry-level products and is a truly modern way to showcase artworks, since it draws attention on the image.
