Mrs. Leneve appears as a voluptuous beauty, facing the viewer with her large, symmetrical, almond-shaped eyes. Her ample shoulders, curled hair, long slender fingers, and fleshiness under her chin conform to the ideals of beauty in the 1600s. Equally important in this conception of beauty was the more elusive quality of grace and effortless movement. Lely achieves this through the sitter’s elegant pose.

In 1657 the painter Peter Lely created the masterpiece. The 360 years old masterpiece was painted with the size Indrammet: 157,5 x 132,5 x 13 cm (62 x 52 3/16 x 5 1/8 tommer); Uindrammet: 126,7 x 101,3 cm (49 7/8 x 39 7/8 tommer) and was painted on the medium oil on canvas. Nowadays, this artwork is in the the digital collection of Cleveland Museum of Art, which is one of the leading museums worldwide that builds, preserves, studies, and shares its outstanding collections of art from all periods and parts of the world, generating new scholarship and understanding, while serving as a social and intellectual hub for its community.
