Danhauser the study had just finished at the Vienna Academy when he painted this humorous studio scene. To counteract misunderstandings, he posted the muscle man of JM Fischer and the painting "Shipwreck" by J. Ph de Loutherbourg, works that are owned by the Academy, then as now, highly visible in prominent places. It therefore is to order a study room the imperial and royal School for budding artists. On display is a high-spirited entertainment of young men, one of which is the image on the easel pierced his finger, created giving the appearance of the sitter show his tongue. The studio space with its tranquility and tradition ladenness - including the figure of the teacher in unmodern, worn clothing - becomes the scene of a real-life action. But is the representation of anything but an amusing description of the painter everyday life. In fact denounced Danhauser academic teaching method to, copying old masters according to which fundamental to the training as a history painter, was the study of nature but was largely rejected. To illustrate the erroneous path that has been trodden in his opinion by Danhauser even drew his own debut feature, "Rudolf von Habsburg is the hermit" (Budapest, Szépmüvészeti Múzeum), zoom and posted it behind the left easel. This detail is not to be understood as a proud quote, but was used as a self-critical example of the contemporary art taste, therefore a historical picture of what artistic level whatsoever, be consistent recognition enjoyed. Danhauser at the same time opposed it against the client of this painting, Ladislaus Pyrker who wanted to promote only the history painter in him, looked at his passion for genre painting and the study of the ethnic groups against it with suspicion. But history painting held Danhauser "for a Quacksalberey" as a letter from 1826 occupied - Accordingly, he showed unflattering, what drastic measures are needed to bring to life the man's head on the easel, whose dress indicates a bygone era.
